Crowder Charged with Murder

 

M. M. SANDERS IS DEAD AT BRANCH

 

    Milt M. Sanders was shot while returning to his home near Branch from McKinney Friday afternoon and died a few hours later. The scene of the tragedy is only a short distance from Club Lake, and about sixteen miles south of McKinney. The shooting is said to have been purely accidental.

    Mr. Sanders came to Texas twenty-three years ago and settled at the home where he lived at the time of his death. He was the second settler to take up his residence at that place. He would have been sixty years of age on the 22nd inst. On Friday he paid his poll tax for the ensuring year, remarking to Deputy Collector Henry E. Morgan that this would be his last time. He is survived by his wife and one son, who lives at Madill, Okla.

CROWDER CHARGED WITH MURDER

 

    Gabe Crowder, who lives about sixteen miles south of McKinney, was arrested Saturday night, charged with killing Milt Sanders on the Friday afternoon preceding. Mr. Crowder was given a preliminary hearing before Justice of the Peace Houston Beverly Monday, and his bond fixed at $2,000, which he made and was released.
