The Sanders, Walls, Oakley & Gray families

The Sanders and Walls families lived in Collin County, Texas, in the late 19th and early 20th century. Family stories tell that there is Native American ancestry in both families.

Squire Joseph Sanders was from South Carolina. After his death during the Civil War, his widow and children moved to Tennessee. From there several migrated to Collin County, Texas. Check out the family menu above for interesting news stories to learn more about the murder of M. M. Sanders.

So far Wilson Walls and Rebecca Bell have been difficult to trace. Both originate in Tennessee. Rebecca is in Arkansas by 1870, and Wilson by 1880. Rebecca reportedly had daughter Jennie Bell out of wedlock, and in 1880 Rebecca and daughter Jennie are living in the home of Wilson Walls.

The Oakley family (two daughters of John W Oakley married William Sanders) have roots in Virginia. John has been traced back to Orrin and Louisa (Perkins) Oakley. John moved to Texas in the early 1880's, settling in Wise, then Nolan Counties.
